Lucy M. DiGiovanni

Lucy M. DiGiovanni, 88, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 7, 2013, at Shady Knoll H.C. in Seymour, with her loving family by her side. 

Mrs. DiGiovanni was born in Middletown on May 2, 1925, daughter of the late Salvatore and Anna Sampiere Morello. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, she was employed at the former Star Pin in Shelton and Gordon Rubber in Derby, until her retirement. Lucy was a volunteer at My Sister’s Place in Ansonia and enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, and search-a-word books.

She is survived by a loving and devoted daughter, Linda Blake (Robert) of Oxford, cherished grandchildren, Jacqueline Kolodziejczak (Derek) of RI, Jennifer Zitnay (Chris) of Beacon Falls, Danielle Beerli (Florian) of Bethany, and Paul DiGiovanni (Fiancé’ Joy) of Oxford, great-grandchildren, Ryan & Rachael Kolodziejczak, Marissa & Breyana McNulty, Philip DiGiovanni, and Luke & Alana Beerli, daughter in law, Paula DiGiovanni of Seymour, sister in law, Joyce Morello of Derby, several nieces and nephews, and her friends at Shady Knoll. She was predeceased by her former husband, Philip DiGiovanni Sr., a son, Philip DiGiovanni Jr. and brothers, John and Ronald Morello.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday December 10, 2013, from 5 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Wednesday, her funeral will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment will follow in the family plot in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shady Knoll Resident Council through the funeral home.
