Madeline Pepe Wyka, age 93, of Derby entered into rest on Monday, February 20, 2017 in the Lord Chamberlain Rehabilitation Center with her two loving sons by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late William F. Wyka, Sr.
Mrs. Wyka was born in Derby on June 11, 1923 daughter of the late Arcangelo and Rachel (Chirico) Pepe and was a lifelong Derby resident. She was the secretary at Chatfield School in Seymour for over 20 years before her retirement in 1993. Madeline was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Derby.
She is the beloved mother of William F. Wyka, Jr, and Eugene D. Wyka, and his wife Bozena, the loving grandmother of Meghan Gouldin and her husband Kent, Brian Wyka, Christopher Wyka, and Izabela O’Neil, cherished great grandmother of Harper Gouldin and also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Eileen Wyka, her sister Mary McEvoy, and four brothers, Louis, Owney, Frank, and Thomas Pepe.
Friends may greet her family on Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. At 10 AM her funeral procession will leave the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Church Derby. Entombment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
