Margaret Gilligan Sangster, age 88, of Huntington peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 17th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born on August 20, 1934, the daughter of the late Vincent and Katherine (Lalor) Gilligan. She was a longtime resident of Huntington and the office manager at Lafayette School for many years until her retirement.
Margaret, a child of God, was the loving mother of Amy Morrissey (Kevin), Brian Sangster (Pamela), Megan Sangster and Kate Fulton (Kevin), beloved sister of Patricia Gilligan McCarthy and Vincent Gilligan, Jr. Margaret was the cherished Nana of Patrick, Brendan, and Colin Morrissey, and Jake and Hannah Fulton. She was also the beloved Great Nana of Faye, Wheeler and Lyra Morrissey. Margaret was also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Katherine Gilligan Hartt.
Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, May 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 24th at 11:00 AM at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton. Burial will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
