Margaret Mary “Peggy” Chapman Llewellyn, age 77, of Seymour, beloved wife of 50 years to the late William D. “Bill” Llewellyn, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on October 26, 1935, the daughter of the late Waldo and Mary Scheckel Chapman. Peggy was a devout communicant of St.Vincent Ferrer Parish of Naugatuck. She was a Roman Catholic with a special devotion to St. Therese of Lisieux. She graduated from St. Benedict Academy in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Peggy was a school health aide at Center Annex School in Seymour; she then went on to work as a Library Aide at the Seymour Middle School. She also worked as the Seymour Town Tax Collector. She was the Seymour Republican Registrar of Voters and a member of the Seymour Republican Town Committee; she was also a member of the Seymour Library Board of Directors and served a term as board president. Peggy was an avid reader, especially of mysteries and historical fiction, and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. She enjoyed travel and art and had a keen interest in American and English history and the British royal family. She loved music, especially Broadway and movie musicals, and enjoyed watching television and old movies. Peggy will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Her family includes her beloved son David W.B. Llewellyn of Rockville, MD and Greencastle, Pa., two devoted daughters Mary F. Llewellyn of Seymour and Susan M. Llewellyn of Lake Ridge,Va., two caring brothers Edward L. Chapman of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and James W. Chapman of Pittsburgh, Pa., and several loving nieces and nephews. She loved cats, and was comforted in her last years by the companionship of her cat Grady.
