Margaret Owen Donahue, 84, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday July 16, 2011, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. “Jack” Donahue.
Mrs. Donahue was born in Randleman, NC on April 18, 1927, daughter of the late William L. and Cora Yarbor Owen. A resident of Derby for 51 years, she was employed as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Marshall Lane Manor in Derby for 21 years until her retirement. Marge played women’s basketball before graduating from Allen Jay High School in North Carolina and was known for her beautiful flower gardens at her home in Derby.
She is survived by 3 sons, John P. Donahue of Lancaster, PA, Dennis J. Donahue of Derby, and Robert M. Donahue and his wife Karen of Woodbridge, 2 sisters, Judy Grosso and Polly Scott of High Point, NC, 4 cherished grandchildren, Kelly Rose Donahue and Julia Ray Donahue of PA and Collin Donahue and Evan Donahue of Woodbridge, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Richard J. Donahue in 1998, brothers, Leon and Kenneth Owen and sisters, Grethel Grimes and Ometa Jordan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Marge’s funeral service and celebration of her life on Tuesday evening July 19, 2011, at 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia with Rev. Janusz Kukulka officiating. Private interment will take place in the family plot in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on TUESDAY from 4:00 pm until the service begins. Contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church through the funeral home.
