Margolata “Marge” Ponsillo, 91, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday October 26, 2013, at Shady Knoll Health Care Center in Seymour. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Ponsillo.
Mrs. Ponsillo was born in Derby on October 4, 1922, daughter of the late Pasquale and Paolina Fiorillo Gaudio. A lifelong resident of Derby, Marge enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, square dancing, trips to the beach, and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by two loving and devoted sons, John F. Ponsillo and his wife Mary Alice O’Brien-Ponsillo of Shelton and Frank J. Ponsillo and his wife Louise of Derby, three sisters, Vincenza “Jenny” Napychank of Shelton, Rose Plavecki of Shelton, and Pauline Facchini and her husband Louis of Ansonia, brother in law, Elio Ponzillo and his wife Clelia of Derby and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Pasquale Gaudio and Vincenzo “Jim” Gaudio and a sister, Frances Tomasko.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday October 29, 2013, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Wednesday, friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral at 10:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church in Derby. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shady Knoll Resident Council or American Heart Association through the funeral home.
