Marguerite R. “Peggy” Owens, age 60, entered eternal rest on June 24, 2023, at Bridgeport Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Richard D. Owens.
Peggy was born in New Haven on November 13, 1962, daughter of the late Benjamin and Patricia Meaney Rand. She grew up in New Haven and moved to Derby after she and Richard married thirty-five years ago. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Peggy triumphed over life-threatening hydrocephalus as a young child, defying the odds to graduate from college, marry, and raise a family. She earned her associate’s degree in early childhood education from Gateway Community College in New Haven. Peggy was happiest when spending time with her adored granddaughters.
In addition to her husband Richard, she leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Patricia Owens-Manion of Ansonia, granddaughters, Skarlette Jean Manion and Kaelyn Grace Manion, brothers, Benjamin “Randy” Rand (Nancy) of Buffalo, NY, Christopher Rand (Susan) of Cheshire and John Rand (Kathy) of Ohio, as well as several nieces and nephews.
