On Saturday April 19, 2025 Maria Candida Dias of Ansonia entered into eternal rest at the age of 97 with her family by her side at Griffin Hospital in Derby.
She was beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She enjoyed the simple things in life like family, a good meal and trip to her beloved country of Portugal. She was selfless, generous and caring women who always put her family first.
She was born in Mesquitela, Mangualde, Portugal on Febuary 12, 1928 and immigrated to the United States to be with her family.
She was a devoted housewife who raised her kids and most of grandchildren to be respectful and kind. She was a devoted wife to her pre-deceased husband Antonio Dias for 71 years.
She is survived by her sons and daughters: Jose Dias, Alfredo Dias, Carolina Ribeiro, Augusta Santos, Zezita Andrade, Irene Andrade, Candida Dias, Antonio Dias, Mariana Senu, Maria de Jesus Dias, Joao Dias and pre-deceased by her daughter Rosa Dias.
Maria is also survived by her many daughters-in-laws and son-in-laws. She had many grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss her smile and her warmth. Maria will be cherished for all the wonderful memories that she gave us and will never be forgotten. We will miss you always and forever.
Upon request of the family funeral services will be private and handled by Bennett Funeral Home on 91 North Cliff Street Ansonia
