Marie A. Carrubba

Marie A. Carrubba, 88, peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 29, 2016, at Griffin Hospital.

Miss Carrubba was born in Seymour on May 25, 1928, daughter of the late Carmelo and Nancy Rose Duca Carrubba. 

Marie graduated from Ansonia High School in 1945 and New Haven State Teachers College in 1949. She earned her Master’s Degree from Fairfield University and 6th year certificate from the University of Hartford. After spending 14 years as a teacher in the classroom in Beacon Falls and Torrington, she went on to serve as Principal in Torrington at Southeast School and Vogel-Wetmore Middle School then retired in 1986 from Torringford School. Marie served on the school facilities committee and devoted much energy to Altrusa, a women’s service organization, serving as president twice. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with her family. 

She is survived by her sister, Doris Klimeric of Florida, sisters in law, Patricia Carrubba of Oxford and Evelyn DeRosier of FL and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Michael, Harry, Mariano, Anthony and James Carrubba. 

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday December 4, 2016, from 4 – 6 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Monday, her funeral will commence at 9:00 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford. Interment will follow in Mountain Meadows Cemetery in Seymour. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marie’s memory may be made to the Oxford Center Fire Company, 484 Oxford Road, Oxford, CT 06478 or through the funeral home.
