Marie C. (Krezel) Sicilia, 78, unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on October 23, 2016, in the comfort of her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Sicilia.
Mrs. Sicilia was born in Derby on Dec. 26, 1937, daughter of the late Joseph and Frances “Sally” Sagala Krezel. A lifelong resident of Derby, she was employed in the Medical Records Dept. at Griffin Hospital for twenty years until her retirement. Marie was a member of the Derby Senior Center and enjoyed cooking and painting. She was also a fan of “Winnie the Pooh”.
She is survived by a loving daughter, Marianne Fenwick (John) of Naugatuck, a brother, Daniel Krezel (Delphine) of Derby, cherished grandchildren, Laurel Brewer (Sam Bedard) of Ansonia, William Brewer of Derby, Heather Brewer of WI, Joseph Sicilia of Bridgeport, Nicholas Clement and Brittany Clement of Marlborough, CT and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Joseph, she was predeceased by a son, Joseph F. Sicilia.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday October 26, 2016, from 5 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Thursday, her funeral will commence at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Michael’s Church in Derby. Burial will be private in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Derby.
