Marie Raccio, age 95, a lifelong resident of Derby, entered into rest on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Griffin Hospital. She was the devoted wife of the late Philip Raccio. Marie was born in Derby on February 8, 1919, the beloved daughter of Alexander and Augusta (Casini) Sorcinelli.
She worked for 15 years for Hull Dye and Print works in Derby, and devoted most of her life to raising her cherished family. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church and belonged to the Altar Society and Rosary Society.
Marie is the beloved mother of Maureen Raccio. She also leaves her brother, Daniel Sorcinelli, and numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved godchildren. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Doreen, three brothers, Gino, Albert, and Anthony Sorcinelli, and a sister, Irene Marrone.
Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Wednesday from 4 to 7PM. On Thursday her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 8:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Derby. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby.
