Mariellen Louise Krajcik

Mariellen Louise Krajcik, age 70, of Seymour, beloved wife of 46 years to David Krajcik, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital with her loving husband by her side. Mariellen fought a private but courageous battle against pancreatic cancer and remained strong, optimistic, and determined throughout. Born in Bridgeport on May 17, 1954, she was the daughter of the late John and Marian (Gaydos) Plavcan.

Mariellen was a caring wife, mother, grammy, sister, aunt, Godmother, cousin, and friend. Since 2014 and through the weeks leading up to her passing, Mariellen worked as a case manager with the Department of Developmental Services for the State of Connecticut. At DDS, as well as in her previous roles with The Kennedy Center and Mechanics & Farmers Bank, she connected closely with her coworkers, establishing many lifelong friendships.

Her most notable employment however, was at Bradlees at The Dock in Stratford, where she met the love of her life, David. They were married on July 15, 1977 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Bridgeport and honeymooned in St. Thomas. In 1980, they built their home in Seymour and began their family.

Mariellen was thoughtful and considerate, and it brought her much joy presenting others with the perfect, hand-selected gift. Though she was quiet in her actions, she devoted time to charitable work, and earlier this Spring, continued her tradition of preparing Easter baskets for St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Bank to be donated to local families in need. She was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church in Derby, and enjoyed gardening. She loved animals, and was notorious for taking responsibility for feeding every paw, claw, hoof, beak and bill that crossed her yard.

She is the beloved mother of Carrie Krajcik (Sean Neves), Joel Krajcik, and Jamie Griffin (Garrett) and cherished grandmother of Dylan and Gavin. She is also survived by her brother, David Plavcan, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janice and Bill Zuscin, nephew and niece Brent (Melissa, and their children) and Jill Zuscin, as well as many dear cousins, friends, and coworkers. She was predeceased by her sister and her husband, Barbara Ann and Bill Suhy, parents-in-law Edward and Peggy Krajcik, and special great-niece Jacquelyn Miklos.

Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM. On Friday her procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Michael’s Church in Derby. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the family to help offset funeral expenses.
