Marietta L. (Benanto) McGuire, age 77, entered eternal rest on October 30, 2023, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was the beloved wife of fifty-seven years to James W. McGuire.
Marietta was born in Derby on February 26, 1946, daughter of the late John and Helen Orazietti Benanto. A lifelong resident of Derby, Marietta was employed as an administrative assistant for the City of Derby Building and Zoning Department for thirty-two years, until her retirement in 2012. She was a devout communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Derby. Alongside her husband Jim, Marietta enjoyed traveling, especially to Italy, Spain, Ireland, and Mexico. They also enjoyed cruises down the Rhine River in France, Alaska, and throughout the Caribbean. Family was most important to Marietta and her grandchildren were the “light of her life.” She will be lovingly missed by all.
In addition to her husband Jim, Marietta leaves to cherish her memory, her loving son, James J. McGuire and his wife Michele, grandchildren, Connor McGuire, and Mary McGuire all of Stratford as well as several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday morning, November 3, 2023, all are welcome to attend her funeral at 10:00 am (please meet directly) at St. Mary Church (Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Parish) 212 Elizabeth Street in Derby, for a Mass of Christian Burial.
