Marilyn Woodford Webb

Marilyn Woodford Webb, a former Ansonia resident currently residing in Florida, passed away May 18, 2021 in Ft Lauderdale. 

Born January 15, 1938, Marilyn is survived by her son Glenn Webb, his wife Lisa Blanchette Webb and their children, Evan and Sarah, as well as her son Randall Webb, his wife Arlene Webb and their son, Andrew. Marilyn dedicated her life to the education of children. She earned, a Bachelors degree, a Masters degree and a Sixth-year Educational Specialist degree in Early Childhood Education. 

She started her career as an elementary school teacher in Ansonia, CT. She then created, obtained funding for, implemented, and oversaw the first gifted education program in the state. Later, she moved to Florida where she owned and operated a private school serving preschool and elementary school children in Margate. Finally, she started her own company which provided educational outreach programs which covered a wide range of subjects including ecology, nature, history, and cultures. 

Marilyn was also a talented singer, musician, artist, and writer. While teaching school, she also wrote feature articles for the local newspaper. During the country’s bicentennial, she published a children’s historical activity book, which was distributed in schools and sold in gift shops of many historical locations. 

She played piano, guitar and ukulele, among other instruments. She was buried privately in the family plot in Pine Grove Cemetery, 15 Church St. Ansonia, CT on Friday, May 28 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
