Mario L. Biondi, 88, of Derby, entered into eternal rest on April 23, 2015, at Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean Salzano Ferrara Biondi.
Mr. Biondi was born in Derby on June 18, 1926. He was employed as a mason for Francini Construction in Derby for 42 years, until his retirement. A proud veteran, he honorably served during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Mario was a long-time member of the Adriatic Marchegian Club in Derby.
He is survived by a step-son, Salvatore Ferrara Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Wethersfield, a grandson, Brett Ferrara and his wife Kezia, two great-grandchildren, Khloe and Zachary Ferrara and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Louis Biondi and a grandson, Daniel Ferrara.
His funeral will be held on Monday April 27, 2015, at 10:00 am, in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, with Deacon Richard Renker officiating. Interment with U.S. Navy military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Visiting will take place on Monday morning from 9:00 am until the service begins.
