Marion Gryken age 86 a longtime Seymour resident entered into peaceful rest Feb. 17, 2011 at CT Hospice, Branford with her devoted family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of 53 years to the late Stanley J. Gryken, Sr. Mrs. Gryken was born July 21, 1925 in Poughkeepsie, NY, daughter of the late Otis and Ethel (Wilcox) Horton.
She was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd, she also enjoyed collecting miniature covered bridges. Marion will be fondly remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed traveling with her family.
Marion leaves her loving family including 3 daughters, Beverly Albro (David) of Oxford, Jeanne Steinnagel (Helmut) of No. Stonington, and Marlene Charney (Richard) of Milford, her sister, Virginia Platt of Southbury, 9 grandchildren, Kim, Kelly, Erica, Jennifer, Emilie, Amy, Megan, Stanley, III, and Stephanie, 6 great grandchildren, Connor, Brooke, Jacob, Kyle, Keely, Lucca, and Jillian, and several nieces and nephews. Her son Stanley, Jr., and half-brothers Andrew, Theodore and Raymond Stone, and half-sister, Eva Morton predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St., Seymour to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Rd., Seymour where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.
