Marion J. Boylan

Marion J. Boylan, age 89 of Seymour, formerly of Derby and Ansonia, beloved wife of the late Edwin Boylan, Sr., entered into eternal rest February 7, 2017 at Shady Knoll Health Care Center, Seymour. 

Marion was born in Derby, July 31, 1927, daughter of the late William and Mary Benis Scholz. 

Marion was a graduate of Assumption Grammar School and Ansonia High School Class of 1945. 

She was employed as a telephone operator for the former Southern New England Telephone Company for many years until her retirement to start her family. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America and was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary of Derby. She loved gardening, traveling, walks with her dogs, and spending time with her grandchildren. 

She is survived by her sons, Edwin Boylan Jr. (Emily) of Seymour, and Joseph Boylan Sr. (Mary) of Naugatuck; her daughter, Mary Jane Gliford (Carl) of Oxford; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, William Scholz, Jr. 

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:30 AM in the James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Ave., Shelton. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery, Derby. Calling hours will be held from 10:30 AM until time of service.
