Mary A. Aquila

Mary A. Aquila, 85, of Seymour, peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 14, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, at Bridgeport Hospital, following a long illness. She was the loving wife for 59 years to Salvatore M. Aquila. 

Mrs. Aquila was born in Ansonia on January 14, 1926, daughter of the late Anthony and Carmelina Aresco Pagliaro. Mary grew up in Ansonia and was a graduate of Ansonia High School. She and her husband moved to Seymour to raise their family. Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to caring for others. She was employed at the former West Side Bakery in Ansonia for many years. She enjoyed cooking for her family and will be remembered for her superb Italian cooking and baking. Her grandchildren will never forget Grandma’s pancakes.” She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of the St. Sebastian Ladies Auxiliary. 

In addition to her husband Sal, she is survived by three children, Sharon Cipows and her husband George of Seymour, Barbara Saggese and her husband Paul of Trumbull, and Anthony Aquila and his wife Kathy of Fairfield. She is also survived by the pride of her life, seven wonderful grandchildren, Crystal Richard, Lindsay Richard, Ryan Cipows, Nicholas Saggese, Trevor Saggese, Alexandra Aquila, Michael Aquila, a new great grandson, Jacob Richard, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Philomena Volduro, Rose Tuccio, and Josephine Kearney. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Monday December 19, 2011, at 9:15am from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on SUNDAY from 3 – 6 pm.
