Mary A. Kalentek, 88, entered into eternal rest on July 24, 2015, at CT Hospice in Branford. She was the beloved husband of 64 years to Joseph F. Kalentek.
Mrs. Kalentek was born in Ansonia on Feb. 2, 1927, daughter of the late Zygmunt and Anna Lizewski Sokolnicki. A lifelong resident of the Ansonia community, she attended St. Joseph Grammar School in Ansonia and was a graduate of Ansonia High School and Stone Business College. She was an active member of St. Joseph Church in Ansonia where she sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Red Cross in Ansonia and the Polish Falcons of American Nest 767, where in her earlier years, participated in gymnastics. Mary enjoyed gardening, sewing and being a member of all of the Valley senior centers.
In addition to her husband Joe, she is survived by a loving son, Joseph A. Kalentek (Diane) of Beacon Falls, a loving daughter, Kathleen Parrett (Richard) of Guilford, cherished grandchildren, Danielle Short of Cape Cod, Olivia and Alex Kalentek of Beacon Falls, several nieces and nephews and numerous “grand-pups”. She was predeceased by brothers, Walter, Albin, Henry, Stanley, Charles and Edward Sokolnicki and sisters, Helen Bystryk and Bernice Tesch.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday July 27, 2015, from 5 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday, her funeral will take place at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Church in Ansonia. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery in Derby.
