Mary C. Sheldon, age 86, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday evening, March 30, 2021, in the comfort of her home, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward G. Sheldon.
Mrs. Sheldon was born in Burlington, VT on July 26, 1934, daughter of the late Robert Anton Voska and Rita Bessette Voska. A resident of Ansonia since 1965, Mary held many jobs throughout her lifetime. She was employed in the cafeteria at the former Farrel Corp. in Derby, prepared food for TEAM in Derby and was the manager of the Photo Shop and Snack Shop, both at the former Ansonia Mall. Above all, Mary was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved to dance. She also enjoyed raising and caring for her beautiful parrots.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Steven E. Sheldon (Susan) of Naugatuck and Glen W. Sheldon (Robin) of Derby, daughters, Mechelle Redford of TN, Spring A. Lewis of Ansonia and Thelma Shastokas of West Haven, grandchildren, Keith J. Mitchell III, Sarah Lynn Sheldon, Ann Marie Sheldon, Karen Sheldon, Daniel Shastokas, Steven E. Sheldon Jr., Nathan Rogers, Nicole Celeste Sheldon, Michael Sheldon, Amanda Gowrie and Joseph Shastokas as well as several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Diane M. Gowrie and a brother, Sonny Denno.
Due to the pandemic, a private funeral service with immediate family will take place along with inurnment in Mount Saint Peter Mausoleum in Derby.
