Mary Elizabeth Herrick, age 87, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Hewitt Apple Rehab in Shelton. She is the devoted wife of 66 years to Ronald Herrick. Mary was born in Derby on November 6, 1937, daughter of the late Edward and Gladys (Lockwood) Millea, and she was a lifelong Shelton resident.
She was a graduate of SHS Class of ‘55, and rose to become Head Bank Teller at the former CT National Bank. She also worked as a secretary for the Shelton Board of Education Finance Office before her retirement. Mary enjoyed knitting, photography, and researching family genealogy. Mary enjoyed playing cards, particularly Setback, with her friends and family. She also loved playing, and usually winning, her favorite dice game with her children and grandchildren. She loved traveling on family vacations to Ocean City, MD and escaping the winter cold in Florida. She also cherished her circle of friends.
She is the beloved mother of Ronald Herrick, Jr. (Jane), Timothy Herrick (Laurie), and Beth Morazes (Allan), cherished grandmother of Kyle, Timothy Jr., Chloe, and Thomas Herrick, Allan Morazes (Brittany), and Shay Taylor (Xrunn), and proud great-grandmother of Finley and Cade Taylor and Paige Morazes. She is also survived by two brothers, Edward Millea, Jr. (Mary Ann) and Dennis Millea (Karen), two sisters, Gladys Funaro (Ray) and Karen Freddino (Robert), her sister-in-law Joyce Noel (Dick), and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Alice Taylor.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Her procession will then leave the parlor for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church in Shelton. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.
