Mary Ellen Conroy, 63, of Seymour, entered into rest peacefully at Griffin Hospital, Derby on Thursday, April 30, 2015.
She was born in Derby, CT on December 27, 1951 the beloved daughter of the late Eugene Paul and Catherine Clark Conroy.
Mary Ellen was a graduate of Seymour High School, Class of 1969. She graduated in 1973 and received her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Drexel University. While matriculating she was also a member of ROTC at Drexel. She served during the Vietnam Era and ended her military career as a Captain in the Army Reserve. She was a graduate of St. Vincent’s College of Nursing, Class of 1993 and was a registered nurse at the West Haven Medical Center for 21 years.
She loved being with her family and was a very generous and kind person.
Her loving family includes her caring sister Kathleen Conroy of Seymour and her two beloved nieces, Sara and her husband Michael Noone, of Melrose, MA and Kerry and her husband Bert Hill of Winthrop, MA and her cherished dog and friend, Nigel and several aunts and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 10:00 am (DIRECTLY) at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford, CT.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives may call at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour on Sunday, May 3 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mary Ellen’s memory may be made to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter or to the Wounded Warriors Project, attn. donor services through the funeral home.
