Mary-Ellen Faroni

Mrs. Mary-Ellen Faroni, 71, of Bethany passed into the arms of our Lord on Tuesday evening July 16, 2024, at Yale-New Haven Hospital, following a brave battle with cancer. 

She will be greatly missed by her devoted husband of forty-seven years, Russell J. Faroni, Sr. Mary-Ellen was born in Derby on June 20, 1953, loving daughter of the late Mary Pizzi Petrie (Stewart J. Petrie MD.) Mary-Ellen graduated from Amity High School and earned her B.A. in Home Economics from Saint Joseph College in 1975 and her M.A. from SCSU in Environmental Studies. 

Mary-Ellen was a beloved high school educator at Derby High School and Amity High School until her retirement in 2013. A highlight of her teaching career was being named Teacher of the Year for Amity High School in 2007. 

Mary-Ellen will forever be known for her generous spirit and desire to take care of others, especially through making her excellent culinary creations which excited her greatly to share and bless others. Mary-Ellen was active at her church, Our Lady of the Assumption, and served as their Past President of the Ladies Guild. 

She loved spoiling others, especially her nephews Bobby Liscouski and Christian Limauro. 

In addition to her husband Russ, she leaves to cherish her memory, sons, R.J. Faroni Jr., and Michael P. Faroni of Bethany, sisters, Patricia Limauro of Bethany, Suzanne Petrie Liscouski (Bob) of Leesburg, VA, step siblings Gwen Gilbert of Seymour and Jud Petrie of Belfast, ME and nephews, Bobby, and Christian. The family wishes to thank the staff of Yale New Haven Hospital’s Medical ICU for their excellent care. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Thursday July 25, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 81 Center Road in Woodbridge, CT

At 11:00 am, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for the peace and repose of the soul of Mary-Ellen. Burial will be private for immediate family at Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby.
