Mary Lesko

Mary (Mae) Lesko, age 99, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Friday April 15, 2016 at River Glen Health Care Center, Southbury, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late John S. Lesko, Sr. 

She was born in Derby on January 26, 1917, daughter of the late George and Victoria (Oliwa) Laton. Above all else, Me was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as devoted parishioner of St. Michael’s Parish. She was a member of the Derby and Shelton senior center. In her earlier years Mae took pride in playing basketball for the Polish Falcons of Derby. Mae loved to play bingo and card games. She was creative and talented and could sew, knit, quilt, and was proud of her porcelain doll collection. She retired from the W.E. Bassett Company in 1982. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. 

Mae is survived by her loving children, John S. Lesko, Jr. and wife Suzanne, and Elaine Lungarini and her husband Ronald, her cherished grandchildren, William Lesko, John Lesko, Andy Lesko, and his wife Shelley, Marisa Lesko Downs and her husband Chad, Rachelle Lesko, Jason Lungarini and his wife Theresa, and Glenn Lungarini, adored great grandchildren Joshua Lesko, Anika Lesko, Molly Lesko, Maggie Lesko, Mariana Downs, Cameron Downs, Justin Lungarini, Tea Lungarini, and Emily Lungarini, and a sister Phyllis Miller and her husband Vincent and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband John, she was also predeceased by her sisters Julie Lesko and Stephanie Scarpa, brothers John and Steve Laton, and sister-in-laws Helen Laton, and Pauline Laton and brother-in-laws William Lesko and John Scarpa. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 21,2016 at 11 am in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Derby. There will be no calling hours. 

The Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd. Shelton are entrusted with the arrangements.
