Mary Louise Bailey

Mrs. Mary Louise (Gould) Bailey, age 87, of Bethany, beloved wife of the late Robert Rice Bailey, entered into peaceful rest on Mar. 1, 2013 at her home.

She was born on July 29, 1926 in Albany, NY and was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Elsie (Speigel) Gould. She graduated from Albany High school, then continued onto Vermont Junior College where she had began volunteering her time at Silver Bay YMCA Association in NY which became a very big part of her life. She continued onto the University of Colorado and the Ohio Wesleyan University where she was a member of Alpha Z. Delta and then received her Master’s degree from Southern CT State University.

Mrs. Bailey was a grammar school teacher for the Mary I. Johnson School in Middlebury and later with the Bethany Community School before her retirement. She was an active member of the First Church of Christ in Woodbridge where she served as a Deacon, Prayer Line and the Bell Choir member. She enjoyed the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and also in her retirement years she loved to travel the world.

Mrs. Bailey is survived by her daughter, Katharine Louise Haversat and her husband, Frederick Henry of Bethany, her two sons, C. Spencer Bailey and his wife Patricia of Guilford and Douglas R. Bailey and his wife Kimberly of Wallingford, six grandchildren, Robert Harris of Bridgeport, Emily Harris of Bethany, Kevin Alston of Woodbridge, Onaliese (Brian) Petrini of Laconia, NH Tricia (Bob McVety) Bailey of Guilford and Jennifer Bailey of Wallingford and five great grandchildren, Tessa Baldino, Penelope Petrini, Anna Bailey, Julianna and Savannah McVety and her sister in law, Mary (Tridennick) Gould of Kensington. Her brother, James Spencer Gould predeceased her.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Mar. 6 at 11 a.m. at the First Church of Christ, 5 Meetinghouse Lane, Woodbridge. Interment will be held in private. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour.
