Mary Louise LaRese, age 90, entered into eternal rest on May 1, 2018, in Smyrna, TN. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence D. LaRese.
Mrs. LaRese was born in Bridgeport on Oct. 14, 1927, daughter of the late Leslie and Rachel Estelle Kohler Lewis. A resident of Ansonia for most of her life, she was the owner of the former Mary Lou Dress Shop on Main Street in Ansonia for over thirty years, until her retirement. She was an active communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the Rosary Guild and helped at the annual Italian Festival. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Highrock Sportsman Association. Mary Lou enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, reading a good book, playing bingo, fishing, but she really enjoyed knitting. One of her favorite activities was discussing and tracing the genealogy of the Lewis family from Southbury, CT.
She is survived by a son, Daniel L. LaRese (Wendy) of Murfreesboro, TN, a daughter, Deborah Kazlauskas (Leon) of Oxford, a brother, Richard Lewis (Doris) of Monroe, NC, a sister, Marjorie Estok of Shelton, cherished grandchildren, Daniel L. LaRese Jr. (Logan) and Michelle Kaesberg (Kyle) of Murfreesboro, TN and Candice Lee Kazlauskas of Oxford and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday May 7, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday, her funeral will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
