Mary McDonnell, age 78, wife of William McDonnell and resident of Seymour, entered into eternal rest March 16.
She was born Feb. 4, 1934 in Derby, daughter of the late William & Mary Cook Callaghan.
She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Waterbury in 1954 and worked as a registered nurse for Griffin Hospital in Derby and the Ansonia School System.
A longtime resident of Seymour, Mary also maintained a seasonal residence on Birchbank Rd. in Shelton. In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory her three sons, William V. McDonnell Jr. of Shelton, Patrick F. McDonnell and his wife Deborah Carroll Ph. D of Stratford and Matthew C. McDonnell and his wife Jacqueline of Oxford, two Sisters, Margaret Sweeney of Seymour and Ann Donavon of Southington, and five grandchildren, Meghan, Hannah, Kathleen, Connor & Aidan McDonnell as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother John Callaghan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday March 20th at 9:30 a.m., with friends asked to go directly to The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia.
Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Friends may call on Monday, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, CT.
