Mary Rose Bonaccorso, age 68, of Shelton, entered into rest on Friday July 19, 2013 in St. Vincent Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of Russell Bonaccorso, Sr. for 45 years.
She was born in Bridgeport, CT on Dec. 25, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Helen McMahon Noonan and was a Shelton resident for the past 45 years.
Mary received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Danbury State College and her Master’s Degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State University. She was a dedicated first and third grade teacher at St. Joseph School in Shelton for 22 years until her retirement in 2010.
In addition, Mary volunteered countless hours to her community, to include being a Special Minister at St Joseph’s Church in Shelton, a Den Mother with Cub Scout Pack 27, Den 6, a member of the St. Joseph’s School Mother’s Club for over 10 years and was on the Shelton Library Board for 12 years. Mary was also an avid UCONN Women’s Basketball Fan.
She was the beloved mother of Russell Bonaccorso, Jr. and his wife Erika of East Hampton, CT Robert Bonaccorso of Ansonia, CT, David Bonaccorso of Browns Mills, NJ, and Mary Conklin and her husband Peter of Bristol, CT, and loving grandmother to Aiden and Ryan Conklin. She is also survived by her brother, Terrance Noonan of San Diego, CA, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd. Shelton, CT. Friends are invited to go directly to St. Joseph Church, 424 Coram Ave., Shelton, CT on Monday at 10:30 am for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
