Mary T. O’Connor, age 91, of Derby entered into rest on Monday, October 18, 2021 at her home.
She was the devoted wife of 59 years to John O’Connor. Mary was born in Ossining, NY on August 4, 1930, daughter of the late John and Assunta (Caterino) Spinetti and was a valley resident for 55 years.
She was the Executive Secretary for the Knights of Columbus for many years until her retirement. Mary met her husband John when she previously was a secretary for Maryknoll Magazine. She was a former President of the Ladies Guild at St. Margaret Mary Church and was also active in the church’s Youth Group. Mary also enjoyed gardening. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family.
She was the beloved mother of John O’Connor, Maria Kenny, Michael O’Connor and Christopher (Denise) O’Connor. Mary was the loving grandmother of Matthew, Kelly, Stephanie, Nicholas, Jessica, Ryan, Evan, Jason and Mason and 3 great grandmother of Weston, Ellie and Isla. She was predeceased by her brother John Spinetti.
Friends may call on Tuesday, October 26th from 5 to 7 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Family and friends are required to wear masks. On Wednesday, October 27th friends are invited to her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby. Her burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
