Maryann T. Giarratano

Maryann T. Giarratano, age 81, of New York City, entered eternal rest on September 14, 2024, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. 

Maryann was born in New Haven on September 24, 1942, daughter of the late Salvatore Alfred and Angelina Piampiano Giarratano. Maryann was a graduate of Ansonia High School and went on to attain her Bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven and her Master’s degree from Stanford University in California. 

Through the years, Maryann was employed as a branch manager for Manufacturers Hanover Trust and Citibank and as an assistant to the Chief Marketing Officer at McDermott Will & Emery Law Firm in New York. Maryann enjoyed the arts and took great joy in the many years she spent as a docent at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. 

She lived in the city for fifty-five years and took pride in being a New Yorker and sharing her wealth of knowledge and love of the city. Maryann cherished the time she spent with her loving family and many friends. 

Maryann leaves to cherish her memory, brothers, Robert A. Giarratano (Gail) of Paso Robles, CA, Alfred J. Giarratano Sr. (Jeanne) of Oxford, niece and nephews, Jennifer Iacuone (David) of Oxford, Alfred J. Giarratano Jr. (Jessica) of Thomaston and Jeffrey Giarratano (Lindsay) of Prospect, great nieces and nephews, Scarlet, Mason, Hailie, Kayce, Ronan, and Ellie. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Maryann’s dear friend, Cory Lynn who selflessly stayed by her side to comfort her in her final days. 

Per Maryann’s request, her funeral service and interment in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby will be private.
