Maryellen Jude Murphy (Scianna) passed on August 10, 2014.
Born on October 9, 1984 in Derby, she was the cherished daughter of Richard and Deborah (Weisz) Scianna.
She is survived by her beloved son John Michael Decker, long-time love Jason Szymansky, loving grandmother Maryellen (Kingston) Weisz, and best friends Jessica Lepri and John Adams. She was predeceased by her dearest grandfather Richard Weisz.
Melly was a 2003 graduate of Seymour High School and received her associate degree from Southern Connecticut State University. A life-long Oxford resident, she enjoyed substituting in the Oxford School System as a paraprofessional and working at the Ascot Club in Shelton. She was an avid reader and loved walking, plants, animals, and the beach. Her greatest passion and blessing in life was being a mother to her treasured son, John.
Melly’s kind and gentle nature, great sense of humor, and free spirit will be missed by many including her nine brothers and sisters Christopher (Stephanie), Michael (Lindsey), Jessica (Brandon), Paul (Casey), Beau (Darlene), Richard, David, Lena (Manny), and Nina (Ryan) and their children. She also leaves behind her aunts Heather (Jeff) Haney, Barbara (Fred) Camp and her many other cousins, friends, and loved ones.
Calling hours will be held on Friday August 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 91 N. Cliff St., Ansonia. On Saturday, her funeral procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. to the Church of the Assumption for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery.
