MaryEllen (Maher) Annicelli

Mrs. MaryEllen (Maher) Annicelli, age 78, died peacefully on Saturday evening, May 13, 2023, in her home, with her loving husband and family by her side. She was the devoted wife of Ralph A. Annicelli for seventeen years. Mrs. Annicelli was born on June 4, 1944, in Waterbury, daughter of the late William F. and Mary E. (Day) Maher. She graduated from Wilby High School and began her career working as a secretary in the Apparel Fastener Division of Scovill Manufacturing Company for fourteen years. She also worked at Uniroyal Chemical Company, Technical Sales and Service in Naugatuck, for twenty-five years as an administrative assistant until her retirement in 2004. After her retirement, she worked part time for the Town of Woodbridge, Human Services Department, as an Administrative Assistant.

MaryEllen was a kind and generous woman and family and friends were very important to her. She especially enjoyed birthday and holiday get togethers and was famous for her apple pie, oatmeal cookies and broccoli bake casserole. Upon retirement, she had the good fortune of traveling the world with her husband Ralph to many places including Ireland, Greece, Spain, Portugal and experienced two memorable family trips to Italy and France. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband and friends in Naples and Venice, Florida during the winter months.

MaryEllen was a loving and devoted niece to her aunts Peggy Day and Louise Day and visited with them often. She enjoyed spending time with her dearest lifelong friends Charlotte and Al and looked forward to their get togethers especially attending the annual Greek Festival in Orange. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed attending games and watching them on television. Her favorite player was Derek Jeter. MaryEllen always looked forward to watching her husband Ralph play his saxophone with his bands.

In addition to her husband Ralph and aunts Peggy and Louise, she leaves two stepdaughters, Dena Boccardi and her husband Michael of Ansonia and Lauren Kershaw and her husband Mark of Guilford, a sister-in-law Barbara Mancini of Bethlehem, friends Charlotte and Albert Grella of Waterbury, cousins Maryann Testa and her husband Pat and Donald Bagley and his wife Debbie.

Her funeral service and entombment in Mount Saint Peter’s Garden Mausoleum in Derby will be held in private. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, has been privileged with the arrangements.
