Matthew A. Horvath, age 18, of Shelton entered into rest on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 with his loving family by his side in Bridgeport Hospital. He was born in Waterbury, on May 6, 2003, beloved son of Matthew J. Horvath and the late Tara Sawicki Horvath.
Matthew played youth soccer in Shelton and continued as a four year varsity athlete at Shelton High School where he graduated from in 2021. He loved cars, camping, outdoors, ATV’s, dirt bikes and hanging out with his friends.
He was the brother of Hayley Alonso and her husband Oscar, grandson of Patricia Horvath and the late Michael and Evelyn Sawicki and the late Robert, nephew of Melissa Sawicki, cousin of Evan and Veronica Horvath and will be sadly missed by several great aunts, uncles and cousins.
Matthew was also survived by his longtime girlfriend Alley Russell and numerous friends who he loved to laugh and spend time with daily. He was also predeceased by his uncle Michael J. Horvath.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 am at St. Joseph Church, 424 Coram Ave., Shelton. His burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.
