Maureen A. Marren

Maureen A. Marren, 59, died at her home in Derby on Saturday, September 28, after a brief illness.

Maureen, also known as Moe” and Flash” to her family, was born in Derby on October 21, 1953, the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Elizabeth M. Cotter” Marren.

Maureen was a long-time employee of Verizon Wireless and previously worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for many years. 

She was a graduate of Housatonic Community College with a degree in Art Studies. Maureen was a talented still photographer who donated her time for years as a photographer with Special Olympics and the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Road Race, to name a few. 

She was a long-time volunteer at the New Haven Open Tennis Tournament, where she enjoyed meeting the athletes of her favorite sport.

Maureen is survived by her sister, Coleen V. Marren of Wethersfield and her brother Timothy P. and wife Nancy Marren of Derby. 

She was predeceased by her sister Kathleen E. LaForte. 

She is the loving aunt to Joseph, Casey, and Anna and godmother to Katie. Her recent joy was grand-niece Scarlett. Her extended family includes cousins Loreen and William Gorzeleany and many other cousins and relatives.Maureen had a large,extended group of lifelong friends who shared many laughs with her. 

She loved to travel and made numerous trips, including to Alaska and Disneyworld.

Friends are invited to greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM and a memorial service will begin at 7:30PM.
