May Sader Bonfanti

May Sader Bonfanti, born September 26,1919 to Joseph and Regina Asmar Sader in Danbury, CT entered eternal rest on August 2, 2017 at Griffin Hospital, Derby, CT.

She worked in the family store, Sader’s Candy Kitchen on Main St, Seymour, where she met her husband, Dominic Bonfanti, in 1942. They married upon his return home from the service in 1946 at Saint Augustine Church in Seymour, CT. In 1955 they built their home on 41 Roberts St. where they raised their three children, and where she resided until July 31, 201. May’s generous spirit, outgoing personality and common sense wisdom made her many friends through the years, while employed at the Oxford House Restaurant, Oxford, CT and Oak Lane Country Club, Woodbridge, CT, at Saint Augustine Church where she was a communicant, in her Garden City neighborhood, and wherever she and her family traveled on vacations. Anyone who came to her home was welcomed warmly, fed well, and made to feel special. She had a green thumb; plants responded and flourished much as people did to her positive nature and hospitality. After she retired at the age of eighty-six, she spent time each week visiting the older people” at Shady Knoll in Seymour, bringing a smile, a kind hug and a prayer to them. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing her, whether family, friends or acquaintances, were cheered by her warmth, positive attitude, encouraging words and her prayers for them.

She was predeceased by her husband of nearly seventy years, Dominic Bonfanti. She was also predeceased by her sisters Emma Willig and Mary Sous, and her brothers George and John Sader.

She leaves behind son William Bonfanti and his wife Madeleine Winans of Chester,CT, her daughters Mary Card and Emma Dirzius and her husband Dennis of West Haven, CT. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Adam Bonfanti of West Hollywood, CA, Marisa Bonfanti of Putnam Valley, NY and Shannon Hennessey, as well as her cherished great grandchildren Adrianna and Aidan. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by them and by her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
