Melissa A Bowers, age 44, of Derby, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 25, 2022 in Derby. She was the devoted mother of Serena Cordy.
She worked for Citizen’s Bank in Customer Service and also for Crius Energy.
Melissa was born in Derby on September 26, 1977, daughter of Bradley Bowers and the late Teresa (Mercer) Bowers, and lived in Derby for most of her life. Melissa, her late brother Nicholas and their father then joined with Janice Chaplik, and her son Brian and daughter Caren to form a “Brady Bunch”.
Melissa was a graduate of Emmett O’Brien Technical High School and Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury. She was a devoted mom to her daughter Serena Cordy. Melissa attended and shared in many Bible Study groups, and would sometimes quote the teachings of what she had learned.
Melissa is survived by her daughter Serena Cordy, her father Bradley Bowers and step mother Janice Bowers, Grandparents Jack and Betty Mercer, step brother Brian (Melissa) Chaplik, step sister Caren Kangas (Michael Raffalo), niece Alyza Nieves-Bowers, nephews Quinn Kangas, Harrison Chaplik and Sevy Chaplik, uncles Gregory (Donna) Bowers, Robert Mercer, Ray (Robyn) Staffieri, Mike (April) Mercer, aunt Colleen Peck (Chris Myers), and cousins Christina Bowers, Makennah Bowers, Gregory Bowers, Rebecca (Jay) Anderson, Samantha Tiano.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. Her funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the parlor. Masks are required in the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Melissa’s memory.
