Michael S. Camilini Sr.

Michael S. Camilini Sr., age 44, entered into eternal rest on September 10, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC after a courageous battle with leukemia.

He was the loving husband to Heather McGinley Camilini. They were married on January 20, 2018, just twelve days after his initial diagnosis.

Mike was born in Derby, CT on November 27, 1973, beloved son of MaryAnn Szymanski Camilini of Derby and the late Frank Butch” Camilini. He grew up in Derby and lived his adult life in Ansonia until moving to Fort Mill, SC three years ago. Mike was employed as an electrician at I.R.V. Plumbing & Electric in Charlotte, NC. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. Mike and his wife enjoyed watching and going to races together. When not watching a race, he could often be found with a steering wheel in his hand, in the living room, racing online with friends. He also enjoyed NFL football. The New England Patriots were his favorite team. Back in Ansonia, most Saturday nights Mike was taking friends and family members money while playing poker at his house. Since moving to South Carolina, Mike and Heather traveled together whenever possible almost always staying at some type of bed & breakfast.

In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Michael S. Camilini Jr. (girlfriend Cryssi Laufer) of Ansonia, a brother, Mark Camilini (fiancé Deanna Smith) of Chattanooga, TN, sisters, Dina Camilini (husband David Stiber Sr.) of Derby and Melissa Camilini of Ansonia, a step-daughter, Carissa Bensey, a step-son, Joseph Bensey (girlfriend Destiny Blackwell) of Fort Mill, SC and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Mike will always be remembered as the most generous, honest and straight-forward, hard-working, genuine and loving man you could ever be lucky enough to know.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday September 22, 2018, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 2:00 pm, a funeral service will take place with Rev. Jeffrey Gubbiotti officiating. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a gofundme account set up to help Mike’s family under the name Camilini Cancer Crushers.
