Mildred M. Davey

Mildred M. Davey, a lifelong resident of Shelton, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.She was born in Derby on April 4, 1933, daughter of the late John Oates Mooney and Mildred Gillis Mooney, and was the widow of Stephen A. Davey.

Mrs. Davey graduated from Lauralton Hall in 1950 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College in 1954. She enjoyed a long career in human resource management, serving as Director, Personnel at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut for more than twenty-five years. She joined the Hewitt organization in Shelton as Vice President, Human Resources in 1981, and in 1985 became President of the Hewitt Management Corporation, a position she held until her retirement in 1998. She was a past President of the New Haven Personnel Association and a former member of the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Personnel Association.

Mrs. Davey was also active in the community, a former Director and member of the Executive Committee of the Valley United Way, and the President of the Friend A Russ Fund, Incorporated. In 1982 she was the recipient of the Claven Award, the highest distinction given by Laurelton Hall in recognition of outstanding example, service and achievement.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, John Davey, nephew Michael Davey and Stephen Davey, many Gillis and Mooney cousins, and numerous friends.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Saturday March 8, 2014 at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave, Shelton.
