Miles E. Holcomb, age 83, of Shelton, entered into rest on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Ludlowe Center in Fairfield. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley J. (Martinka) Holcomb. Miles was born in Bridgeport on February 4, 1941, son of the late Miles K. and June (Erle) Holcomb. He was raised in Stratford and lived in Shelton for over 55 years.
Miles was a graduate of Stratford High School and then served in the United States Army National Guard. He worked as a heavy machine operator for several major construction companies. He retired after working for O&G Industries as an Asphalt Roller Operator and was a longtime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 478. Miles loved his family dearly, taking them to Disney every February and camping each summer. He loved the casino and never saw a buffet that he didn’t like! Miles made it a point to maintain friendships with many high school friends and McDonalds was his favorite meeting place each morning with the “guys.” Miles also loved being by the water, watching boats, his Stratford tour, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is the beloved father of Kevin Holcomb (Jean), Brian Holcomb, Michael Holcomb, Jennifer Gambardella (Robert), Kimberly Cabeleira (Paul), and the late Drew Holcomb. He was the proud grandfather of Taylor, Kayla, Jacob, Chloe, Julianna, Catherine, Christina, and Angelina, and great-grandfather of Brandy. He also leaves a sister, Linda Martinka (Joe), cousins Dawn and Ted Kostzewski, and several loving cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his wife and son, Miles was also predeceased by a sister, Judy Holcomb.
When Miles was your friend, he was a friend for life…always offering a helping hand or popping in to see how you were doing.
