Milford C. Thompson, Jr., age 74 of Townshend, VT for 14 years, and was a former longtime resident of Oxford, CT. He entered peaceful rest on September 29, 2024 at his home; he was the beloved husband of Joanne (Heafy) Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was born June 14, 1950 in Derby, son of the late Milford, Sr. and Bernice (Christensen) Thompson. Milford was a retired Zoning Officer for the City of Bridgeport, CT, and had previously worked at the Oxford Public Works Department, as well, he ran his own company Grassroots Landscaping Co.
Milford was a former member of the Oxford United Church of Christ where he had served on the Board of Deacons. He was a longtime member of Boy Scouts Troop 1 of Oxford where he attained the rank of Star Scout; he later became an assistant Scout Master there. Milford enjoyed all things outdoors, and as a huge history buff, he participated in reenactments of the French and Indian War, and also the Revolutionary War.
In addition to his wife , Milford leaves his loving family including his sons, Benjamin Thompson and his wife Liz of Olympia, WA, and Eric Thompson also of Olympia; his brother, Chris Thompson of Middlebury, CT; his grandchildren, Rowan and Hollis Thompson both of Olympia, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves in-laws Matt and Barbara Heafy, William and Sharon Heafy both of Cheshire, CT, Ellen Carroll of Costa Mesa, CA, Mark and Cheri Heafy of Milton Freewater, OR, and several nieces and nephews on his wife’s side of the family.
Family and friends may call at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour, CT on Thursday at 10:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Service in celebration of Milford’s life which will begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Oxford.
