Mina Mastrogiovanni Mastriani, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday evening, November 6, 2010, at the Birmingham Health Care in Derby with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Mattia Mastrogiovanni.
Mrs. Mastrianni was born in Salento, Salerno, Italy, daughter of the late Guido and Antonia Scarpa Coscia. After immigrating from Italy, she was a resident of West Haven and Jacksonville, FL for many years before residing in Seymour. She was employed as a laser technician at the Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford until her retirement. Mina was proud to have taught Kindergarten with the Nuns in Italy in her earlier years and enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, exercising, and her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Marco (Josephine) Mastrogiovanni of Seymour, two daughters, Caterina (Henry) Razowski of Ansonia and Nanda (Doug) Benedict of Londonderry, NH, two brothers, Carmen Coscia of Naples, FL and Frank (Sylvia) Coscia of Ansonia, seven grandchildren, Marco Mastrogiovanni Jr. of Stratford, Lisa (Raymond) Palama of Beacon Falls, Brian (Jennifer) Razowski of Seymour, Amalia (Mark) Norko of Derby, Nathan Razowski of Ansonia, and Bradley and Curtis Benedict of NH, four great-grandchildren, Joseph and Melissa Razowski and Lucas and Miles Norko. She was predeceased by brothers, Giocondo, Giovanni, Antonio, and Raffaelo Coscia and sisters, Rosa Pedros and Bruna Coscia.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral on Thursday November 11, 2010, at 9:45am from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at the St. Mary’s Church in Derby. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 7 pm. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association through the funeral home.
