Mortimer J. Conlan, Jr.

Mortimer J. Conlan, Jr., age 91, of Oxford, the beloved of husband 64 years to the late Margaret McCarthy Conlan, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Clohanmore, Cree County Clare, Ireland on May 28, 1931, he was the beloved son of the late Mortimer J. and Mary Ann (Callinan) Conlan, Sr. He was a devout communicant at St. Thomas the Apostle Church , Oxford. Mortimer was a Forman for Carpenter Steel for many years , having retired in 1987. He served his country with pride and honor in the U.S. Army. Mortimer enjoyed watching UConn Boys and Girls Basketball. He loved to putter, he was a jack of all trades, loved to go to sporting events especially the New York Mets and New York Jets games. Mortimer will be sadly missed by all, but will remain forever in our hearts.

His loving family includes his nine children, Joan (Dan) Hemperly, Mary Anne (Jim) Brown, Mortimer (Ingrid) Conlan,III., Patricia (Pat) Kelley, Margaret (Timothy) Speer, Daniel (Danielle) Conlan, Susan (Rafal) Wisniewski, Thomas (Ashley) Conlan, Clare Conlan, his sister Bridget O’Donnell and his brother Joe(Teresa) Conlan his sixteen grandchildren Dan (Brooke), Patrick(Jamie), Matthew (Summer), DJ, Michael (Christina),Timothy, Jack, John, Bill, Sean, Clare, Meghan, Katie, Hannah, Bryn, Jake and three great-grandchildren Bree, Mackenna, and Everly. He was predeceased by seven siblings .

A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Mortimer’s life will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road in Oxford. Interment in the family plot will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery on Harvester Road in Easton. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday morning from 9:00 am am until 10:00 am at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) in Seymour.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts Mortimer’s memory may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, For Parkinson Research, through the funeral home.
