Mrs. Charlotte (Tarantino) Russell

Mrs. Charlotte (Tarantino) Russell, age 85, of Shelton and Greenacres, FL, beloved wife of the late G. Alton Nippy” Russell, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center, Shelton. 

She was born on June 20, 1925 in Derby and was the daughter of the late John and Christine (Johnson) Tarantino. Mrs. Russell was a former Registrar of Voters for Shelton and a member of the Shelton Republican Women’s Club and the Republican Town Committee. Mrs. Russell was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was particularly proud of her two sons who served their country during the Vietnam Conflict. 

Mrs. Russell is survived by her three devoted children, Gary Russell of Derby and Dean Russell and his wife Karen of Shelton, Leigh Schultz and her husband Richard of Southbury, and five grandchildren, Paul Russell and his wife Stacey of Shelton, Denise Earle and her husband, Steve of Dayville, Christopher Russell of New York City, Ashley Pounds of Naugatuck and Christine Schultz of Southbury as well as seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Jean (Tarantino) Marra and her husband, Fred of Lady Lake, FL.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shelton Congregational Church, Shelton. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be held in private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Russell’s memory to the Shelton Congregational Church, 269 Coram Avenue, Shelton, CT 06484 or the United Methodist Homes, 584 Long Hill Avenue, Shelton, CT 06484.
