Nancy Lee Michaels, age 74, of Shelton entered into rest on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth D. Michaels. Nancy was born in Burlington, VT, on October 1, 1949, daughter of the late Duane and Theresa (Brown) Stone, and was a Connecticut resident for most of her life.
She was an administrator for the Department of Children and Family Services for the State of CT for many years until her retirement. Nancy loved her faith and St. Joseph Church. She enjoyed feeding the birds, loved Hallmark and was a good caretaker. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family and loved her cats Wally and Eva.
She was the beloved mother of Michael Cannizzio, III, stepmother of Kenneth Michaels, grandmother of Michael, IV and Brian Cannizzio, great grandmother of Isabelle Cannizzio and sister of Michael Stone, Gail Gillig and Dineen Muniz. Nancy is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Rachael, Robert, Kristin, Justin, Philip, Jaydon, Nylah, Avery, Krystyna, Reynaldo, Natallie, Nathanel, Kaileigh and Zachary.
On Sunday, friends may greet the family from 2 to 4 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Monday, her procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church. Her burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
