Navia Marie Osak, age 93 , of Shelton peacefully entered into rest on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Osak, Jr. Navia was born in Derby, on April 8, 1928, daughter of the late Sabatino and Guiseppina (Giacomoni) Cornachini and was a Shelton resident for most of her life.
Navia worked at the Sponge Rubber company where she met her husband and began her life as a homemaker. She held a part-time job at Shapiro’s during the holidays while volunteering for the American Red Cross, Griffin Hospital Development Fund and at St. Lawrence church. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and sewing and loved to Host the Labor Day Picnic with her husband.
She is the beloved mother of Michael Osak and his wife Donna. She also leaves her step-grandson Gabriel Baker, (Corinne), three great step-grandchildren Kayla, Joshua, and Jeremy Baker, with one great-great grandchild on the way as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Francis Osak, brothers Americo “Mac” Cornachini and George Cornachini, sister Lilian Busimato, and step-granddaughter Renee Baker.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Friday from 4 to 7 PM. Masks are required while inside the funeral home. On Saturday, friends are invited to go directly to St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Lawn Cemetery.
