Nicholas Tema, formally of Seymour, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2020 at Bishop Wicke in Shelton. He was born on December 18, 1931 to Martin and Effie (Soroka) Tema.
Nicholas is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Ann (Okal) Tema; his three adored children, Martha Baratta and her husband Anthony, Patricia Weller, and Paul Tema and his wife June. A loving grandfather, he cherished time with his five grandchildren, Lenny, Maria and Nicholas Baratta, and Taylor and Trevor Tema. He is also survived by two brothers, John Tema and Ronald (Michael) Tema. After graduating from Pine School in Ansonia, Nicholas proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Paucatuck. He was a life-long member of Three Saints Church in Ansonia.
Nick was a Tool & Die Maker at B.F. Goodridge and later taught Industrial Maintenance at Seymour High School. Many were graced with his homemade pies and woodworking projects including his Christmas reindeer and wooden tulips. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Olga, Mary and Julia, and brother, William. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to all the staff at Bishop Wicke for their care. Nicholas’s love for family and his community was evident with his sayings such as “stick together” and “love one another”. He will be loved and missed forever. Memory Eternal.
