Nicola Monaco, age 90, of Ansonia entered into rest on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was the devoted husband of the late Maria (Johnsante) Monaco. Nicola was born in San Valentino, Italy on July 22, 1929 son of the late Giovanni and Rita (Casale) Monaco. He was a lifelong auto and diesel mechanic until his retirement.
Nicola loved cars, scrap metal and was very meticulous in everything he did. He also enjoyed singing and dancing.
Nicola is the beloved father of Anthony Monaco, Adriano “AJ” Sante Monaco and John Monaco and brother of Angelo “Sergio” Monaco, Rudolph Valentino Monaco, Frank Monaco and Dora Ricci. He is the loving grandfather of Annalisha, Jessica, Samantha, Nicholas, Jonathan. Michael and Nicolette, and great grandfather of Santino and Giavana.
Nicola is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers Joseph and Victorio Monaco.
Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Saturday, his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Church. His burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery.
