Nora L. Mongillo

Nora L. Mongillo, 89, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 25, 2011, at the Shady Knoll Health Care in Seymour. She was the loving wife of Alfred L. Mongillo Sr.

Mrs. Mongillo was born in Derby on Jan. 3, 1922, daughter of the late Angelo and Cleonice Regaini Bertozzi. A resident of Derby for most of her life, she was employed as a receptionist at the former Rasbach Photo Studio in Shelton for 30 years until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Jude’s Church in Derby and a member of its Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and was known for her famous baking”.

In addition to her husband Al, she is survived by a beloved son, Alfred L. Mongillo Jr. and his wife Madeline of Seymour, 3 sisters, Rose Bennard of Ansonia, Louise DeGennaro of Derby, and Norma LaPointe of Branford, 2 cherished grandchildren, Michael R. Mongillo and his wife Maria of Orange and Jennifer L. Kloppers and her husband Dr. Amor of Prince Rupert, B.C., Canada, 4 great-grandchildren, Leah and Nicole Mongillo and Adam and Noah Kloppers and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a heart-felt thank you to the staff of Shady Knoll Health Care for their exceptional care given to Nora during her stay.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday May 28, 2011, at 8:45am from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Jude’s Church in Derby. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 – 7 pm. Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Church in care of the funeral home.
