Ormond M. Sara, 79, of Shelton, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday evening, July 9, 2013, at Vitas Hospice in St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. He was the beloved and devoted husband of the late Joan Liepertz Sara.
Mr. Sara was born in Bridgeport on June 22, 1934, son of the late Henry and Katherine Martin Sara. He was a resident of Shelton for 16 years, prior having lived in Fairfield.
Ormond was employed at Sturm Ruger Firearms in Southport, later as a baker for Pepperidge Farm Bakery in Norwalk, and retired from ShopRite in Derby.
A communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Shelton, he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Catholic Men’s Club. He was happiest when spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by two loving sons, Wayne Sara (Maureen) of Stratford and Kevin Sara (Tami) of Naugatuck, a brother, Philip Sara of Fairfield, a brother in law, Fritz Liepertz (Lynn) of Sacramento, CA, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Vereb.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday July 13, 2013, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral at 8:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church in Shelton. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.
