Ottavio D. “Poppie” Ragaini, age 96 of Seymour, entered into peaceful rest on December 1, 2021; he was the beloved husband of the late Marion G. (Hatstat) Ragaini.
He was born December 4, 1924 in Ansonia, son of the late John G. and Adeline (Letizi) Ragaini. He was retired from the Farrel Corporation, Ansonia after 39 years, and also from Bioserve of Prospect where he worked for 25 years. Ottavio was a communicant of St. Augustine Church.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps following WW II. He was an avid woodworker and musician having played in a Country-Western Band. Ottavio enjoyed golf, bowling, and gardening; he was a fan of the NY Yankees and UCONN Basketball.
Ottavio leaves his loving family including his sons, Ronald L. Ragaini (Judith) of Meriden, and Richard A. Ragaini of Prospect; a brother, Pasquale “Patsy” Ragaini of Seymour, and a sister, Evelyn “Bibby” Dorosh of Beacon Falls; also 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His son, Michael D. Ragaini, and brothers, Segelfredo and August, and sisters Viola, Annie, Zina, Mafalda, and Mary predeceased him.
Calling Hours are Monday Dec. 6th,from 4 to 8 PM at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. The funeral will be Tuesday Dec. 7th at 9:30 AM from the funeral home, to St. Nicholas Parish-St. Augustine Church 35 Washington Ave. at 10:30 AM.
